Wetang’ula Urges Residents to Support Ruto’s Administration

In a recent rally, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula passionately called upon leaders and residents in the Western region of Kenya to extend their unwavering support for President William Ruto’s administration. Wetang’ula emphasized that Ruto’s government has invested significant national resources aimed at transformative development in the area, a shift that has been notably absent under previous administrations.

A Historical Perspective on Development

Wetang’ula, speaking at Bulimbo in Matungu Constituency of Kakamega County, reflected on his extensive political career, drawing comparisons to past administrations. He articulated that during his tenure working with former presidents Daniel Arap Moi, Mwai Kibaki, and Uhuru Kenyatta, the Western region had never witnessed the kind of development it is currently experiencing. According to him, now is a pivotal moment for the area, illuminated by substantial progress.

Commitment to Ongoing Projects

Accompanied by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, Senators, and Members of Parliament, Wetang’ula assured local residents that essential funds would be allocated in the national budget to complete various development projects initiated by President Ruto. “I am encouraging all MPs from the region to make the most of the current budget-making process to secure necessary funds,” he stated, outlining his commitment to seeing these initiatives through.

Revitalizing Stalled Initiatives

One of Wetang’ula’s key points was the revival of several development initiatives that had stalled in previous years. He highlighted notable projects such as the revitalization of the Mumias and Nzoia sugar factories, road tarmacking efforts, and the development of markets. Furthermore, under the Affordable Housing Programme, there are plans for constructing hostels in public institutions, marking a significant shift in public infrastructure.

Improving Healthcare Services

The importance of healthcare in the region was underscored by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, who noted the resumption of construction on the stalled Kakamega Level 6 Hospital, attributed to the President’s intervention. Barasa was optimistic about the project’s potential to dramatically improve healthcare services in the area, stating that both national and county governments had committed funding to ensure its completion.

Education Initiatives

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot pointed out the significant achievements of the Kenya Kwanza administration in the education sector, reporting that over 100,000 teachers have been employed in less than three years. This achievement reflects a commitment to enhancing educational standards and creating opportunities for young people throughout Kenya.

Rallying for Development

Speakers at the forum, including Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli and local MPs like Innocent Mugabe and Oscar Nabulindo, collectively urged residents to support the broad-based government. They cautioned against divisive politics typically propagated by the opposition, advocating instead for a united approach toward sustainable development and progress in the region.

A Collaborative Future

The overall sentiment from the discussions was one of optimism and collaboration. As regional leaders rally around supporting President Ruto’s administration in implementing transformative projects, the hope is that these efforts will not only revitalize the Western region but also enhance its contributions to Kenya’s national growth.

The emphasis on unity, development, and strategic engagement with ongoing projects paints a picture of a region poised for significant progress, one that is finally under the leadership willing to invest in its potential.
